    Accessibility

Connections Media is committed to providing websites which are accessible.

To meet this commitment, this website adheres as closely as possible to the Web Accessibility Guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium W3C group, and the UK Government's guidelines in the Disability Discrimination Act (1995).

This site has been developed using XHTML and CSS which allows visually impaired users to navigate and experience the site content without the restrictions by the layout.

    Change your browser settings
If you want to alter the way you view any website, from the size of text to the colour of hyperlinks, you can change some of the options in your internet browser. To change the font settings on the latest version of Netscape or Internet Explorer, follow the instructions for your browser type and version in the column to the left. These settings should work on most websites but they won't affect images on the screen.

If you have problems changing your settings, use the Help menu in your browser toolbar.

    The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) provides a detailed list of priorities to achieve accessibility. Many of these priorities are quite technical in nature, but the following points provide examples of the kind of measures we have taken to ensure ease of access;

    • Images
All informational images contain an ALT tag and decorative images have a null ALT attribute.
    • Content
The use of white background throughout the site, with plain black text, makes reading easier on the eyes, and allows the reader to take in more information.
    • Layout
Style sheets are used to control layout and presentation - so that users are presented with a consistent layout. If tables are used then the rows and columns are labelled appropriately. We use navigation mechanisms consistently (search boxes always top left for example).
    • Scripting
The use of applets and scripts are not used.
    • Style sheet
We use relative rather than absolute units in markup language attribute values and style sheet property values. This means that when a page is viewed in different screen resolutions it still makes sense and users who wish to increase the font size in a web page can do so
    • Compatibility
This site has been designed and tested to be compatible with the following browsers:
      - Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.5, and 6.0
      - Netscape 7.0, 7.2
      - Mozilla 1.7
      - Firefox 1.0
